Half-term falls in Ramadan in 2027

First twenty days or last ten nights?
The first twenty days are calmer and more affordable. You still fast in the Haram, pray Taraweeh behind the imams and break your fast with dates and Zamzam. It is a good choice for families and elders.
The last ten nights are the most sought after because of Laylatul Qadr. Crowds are enormous, especially on the odd nights, and hotel prices can be three to four times higher than earlier in the month.
When to book
- By October or November: best choice of hotels and flights.
- By December: still possible, prices are rising, half-term dates go first.
- January: limited availability, especially near the Haram.

Making the most of the month
- Arrive at the mosque early for iftar. The courtyards fill quickly in the last hour.
- Rest during the day. Suhoor, Fajr and Taraweeh make for short nights.
- Perform Umrah late at night after Taraweeh, when the Mataf is less crowded.
